Welcome to Cross and Crown Highlands, a small family farm nestled in Malta, Illinois—about 75 miles west of Chicago in the heart of north central Illinois. What began as a shared dream has grown into a peaceful place where people can slow down, connect with animals, and experience a bit of farm life.

Cross and Crown Highlands is owned and lovingly cared for by Teresa Paulsen and Melissa Wagner, two friends who share a deep love for animals and a long-held dream of raising Scottish Highland cattle. That dream is now a reality, and it’s one they are passionate about sharing with others.

Our farm is home to a growing family of animals, including our gentle and iconic Highland cows, along with friendly goats and curious chickens. We believe there’s something special about being close to animals—the calm it brings, the joy it sparks, and the simple connection it creates.

We are excited to welcome visitors to the farm for hands-on experiences where you can meet the animals, pet them, and even brush our Highland cows.
